U.S. Financial Services Company Seeking Entry to China

The client, a portfolio company of a U.S. VC funds, offers an innovative technology platform that provides an alternative investment vehicle for both retail and institutional investors. The client was keen to diversify and increase its revenue streams,as urged by the VC with concerns of potential slow-down of growth. One of the goals set by management was to attract clients from China.

After engagement we analyzed the target market and designed market entry strategies, goals to achieve and a detailed plan for each stage. We then worked with the client to launch a full scale implementation of the plan. We not only identified and developed a list of prospective customers and brokers that would refer business to our client, but also directly acquired initial customers and brokers on their behalf. We also worked closely with the client to adjust their front, middle and back end software and operations to cater to Chinese customers including the localization of the client's web interface and content for Chinese. We sourced and introduced to the client its first China Country Manager.

Within 6 months of engaging KGA the client generated its first of what has become significant revenues from China. The China story and fast-growing revenues generated from China made the client appealing to potential buyers and led to a successful acquisition by a Canadian company in late 2013.
